Funambol (News - Alert), an open source mobile cloud company, recently announced the general availability of Funambol v8.5.

Once synced, users can view pictures and mobile data via online. In addition, pictures can be synced with connected devices and shared with social networks including Facebook (News - Alert) and Twitter.

Funambol offers this software to mobile operators, service providers and internet companies. By using this software, these operators and companies are able to 'cloud sync' mobile data, including address books, calendars and e-mail.

v8.5 is designed to sync rich media and add new clients for Android, Symbian (News - Alert), Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and Mac OS. It also enables automatic client software update. Contrary to other cloud sync solutions, the open source platform from Funambol can sync any device with any platform on any network. It permits the mobile operators to bring back the customer relationships that are now trailing for device manufacturers and online platforms.

In a release Fabrizio Capobianco (News - Alert) who is the CEO of Funambol said that 'Getting pictures off mobile phones has been tedious but that changes completely with Funambol v8.5. You don't even have to try -- it can happen automatically and once your pictures are in the cloud, you are free to share them with friends and social networks, as well as access them via other devices. They are also backed up so that if the phone is lost, your pictures aren't. It's a perfect proposition for consumers and gives mobile operators and service providers an incredibly valuable photo capability which helps them monetize users and makes their services stickier.'

Funambol v8.5 can be used to address major issues in the mobile industry. Now, it is a trend that the mobile users tend to access rich media everywhere such as handsets, PCs and social sites. It's very important to offer simple sync as the users have so much valuable information on handsets. This new mobile cloud addresses all these issues and offers means to share data with any Internet-ready device.
