DNS - Onset Brings Improves Web-Based Monitoring System

The HOBO U30 web-based energy and environmental monitoring system from Onset has acquired many new features to provide improved services to the customers. The company claims that these new features help the customers in accurately and easily measuring a variety of energy and environmental measurements.

Whether you’re tracking climate conditions for field research, or measuring energy usage in a commercial building, HOBO U30 Environmental Monitoring Systems provide real-time access to data from any web browser. These systems provide accurate, dependable data right to your desktop, claims Onset.

HOBO U30/GSM system customers can now use their monitoring systems in over 30 international countries with the help of a new, low-cost global cellular network plan through Wyless (News - Alert). They can also easily configure data display settings within HOBOlink – Onset’s web-enabled software platform for HOBO U30 systems. The networks can deploy and remotely access U30 systems in any AT&T or T-Mobile (News - Alert) coverage area within the United States.

“These enhancements will provide a number of exciting benefits for HOBO U30 customers,” said Paul Gannett, product marketing manager for Onset. “Researchers conducting ecology and climate change studies, for example, will benefit from being able to buy U30 systems here in the U.S. and deploy them in other countries.”

“Energy consultants performing building energy performance contracts will appreciate the ability to create more customized displays of real-time energy use,” Gannett added.

The weatherproof, NEMA-rated enclosure of the HOBO U30 system will now be constructed of materials derived from 85 percent post-consumer plastic waste. Apart from offering customers with a rugged, attractive enclosure designed to withstand harsh conditions, this is also considered to be highly environmental friendly.

Last September, the company announced a new wireless frost alarm system that helps growers prevent costly crop damage by automatically notifying them of frost conditions in the field. The HOBOnode Wireless Frost Alarm System, which combines a wireless temperature sensor, receiver, and software for $389, provides a simple, cost-effective means of keeping an eye on frost.
