DNS - Solera, FireEye Partner to Protect Networks from Cyber Security Attacks

Solera (News - Alert) Networks, a network forensics products and services company and FireEye, Inc. announced a technology partnership for the delivery of an integrated solution which will offer businesses with full visibility into cyber incidents before and after they occur.

Sources at FireEye (News - Alert) a provider of Malware Protection Systems or MPS said that the powerful combination of its solution and Solera Network’s network forensics platform will deliver a single solution for the capture of detailed analytics of cyber security attacks. This includes zero-day and advanced persistent attacks in order to provide rapid and intelligent response.

Peter Schlampp, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Solera Networks said, “FireEye is an industry leader in network security and malware protection and we are excited to combat the growing threat of cyber attacks with them. The combined solution provides customers with greater insight, enabling a more comprehensive incident response against zero-day, targeted attacks.”

The cyber threats which occur nowadays target enterprise as well as government networks exhibiting a high level of sophistication. Major incidents like Operation Aurora that targeted Google (News - Alert) and other prominent organizations need dynamic malware protections. FireEye offers such malware protection solutions and Solera offers in-depth, real-time network capture for understanding the context and impact of the attack.

According to Solera sources its open architecture seamlessly integrates with FireEye’s threat prevention appliances. Also FireEye provides packet-level detail or PCAPs of an attack alert while Solera Networks simultaneously provides full network capture and replay. This provides administrators with full contextual details of what happened before and after an incident was blocked. The Solera DS network forensics appliances record every packet at line rates up to 10Gbps on physical and virtual networks for full event reconstruction.

Ashar Aziz, founder and CEO of FireEye said, “Together with Solera Networks we are addressing cyber attacks, looking at both incident response and situational awareness. As a result, we provide our customers with a deeper understanding of the zero-day attacks before and after they occur, giving them more granularity on incidents.”

“We are committed to fight the Modern Malware infection lifecycle, and partnering with Solera Networks enables us to take on a more aggressive approach,” Aziz added.

The partnership between Solera Networks and FireEye enables incident response and situational awareness. The combined offering enables customers to now leverage efficient incident response and analysis for any confirmed security event blocked by FireEye. This new insight will help IT administrators to further analyze related attack incidents and mitigate future attacks.

Also this situational awareness provides customers with evidence and complete understanding of cyber security incidents that are not provided by conventional intrusion prevention, Web filtering and antivirus products.
