DNS - Sophos Partners with Optenet for Proactive Malware Protection

Sophos, an IT security and data protection firm, has stated that they have partnered with Optenet, a dealer in enabling SaaS (News - Alert) offerings and delivering "on-premise" security solutions, in order to offer proactive malware protection to Optenet's web and email security solutions customers.

Through this newly forged partnership, Optenet customers will receive latest malware protection directly from SophosLabs.

The companies have stated that Sophos's high-speed malware detection technology is now fully integrated across Optenet's web and email security solutions such as the Optenet WebSecur , Optenet MailSecure, and Optenet NetSecure. A single scan from the Sophos engine offers protection against viruses, spyware, worms, Trojans, and adware.

The intelligence of Sophos security technologies along with the malware scanning engine within Optenet's email and web solutions analyzes 50,000 new malware samples every day. It is important to stop malware before a specific detection update can be released because today's threats are becoming more complicated, targeted and fast moving.

Sophos has stated that their Genotype malware detection technology practically blocks groups of malware threats and examines the behavior of the code before it performs, therefore protecting users from unknown threats.

The internet provides a great platform for businesses to research, gather, and promote information through blogs and social networking sites which makes end users protection so critical. Sophos's proactive malware scanning capabilities along with Optenet's web security offerings provides their existing and future customers the highest level of protection without obstructing their end users' browsing experience and productivity.

Vice President of Global Alliance and OEM at Sophos, Michael Rogers has said that it has been obvious to both Sophos and Optenet that there was great potential to integrate their technologies. Optenet has extensive experience and knowledge working with ISPs and telecom operators and Sophos has long developed proactive security solutions built specifically for the enterprise. Merging Optenet's security capabilities with their unique malware protection was a natural fit.

In related news, Kerio selected Sophos as its new anti-malware technology partner and Sophos was honored by Boston Business Journal.
