Fortinet Launches FortiGate-300C for Mid-Sized Organizations and Large Enterprise Branch Offices

Fortinet (News - Alert), a network security provider, announced the launch of the FortiGate-300C to tap the mid-size organizations and large enterprises with strategic branch offices.

A part of the FortiGate multi-threat security appliance product family, the FortiGate-300C is designed for mid-size organizations and large enterprises with strategic branch offices requiring optimal security protection to keep pace with volatile threat landscape.

The FortiGate-300C features one of the highest port densities and price/performance ratios of any product in its class to deliver advanced firewall, VPN, application control and intrusion prevention system functionality in a single appliance, Fortinet officials said.

Leveraging the FortiGate-300C, enterprise can have security gateway for VPN termination and application control. It is especially designed with eight FortiASIC-accelerated ports for maximum throughput.

The new appliance offers wire-speed firewall and IPSec VPN performance as well as application control acceleration to provide optimized security capabilities without imposing latency in high-speed network environments.

By utilizing the FortiGate-300C, organizations can protect their assets and network infrastructures from threats. The eight accelerated ports on the FortiGate-300C facilitate the creation and enforcement of segmented security zones with policy control.

The new appliance features local logging and reporting capabilities that complement the optional integration with Fortinet's FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer systems for centralized management and advanced forensics.

“Our mid-sized and large-scale enterprise customers have been looking for new opportunities to apply the benefits of unified threat management in strategic gateway and remote location deployments with more aggressive price/performance levels,” said Michael Xie, founder, CTO and vice president of engineering at Fortinet, in a statement.

“We're responding to pent up customer demand for solutions that combat the constantly changing threat landscape at an affordable price without sacrificing network performance,” Xie added.

Recently, Fortinet announced that it has retained its position as the number one vendor in worldwide unified threat management (UTM) factory revenue for Q3 2010. The ranking, given by IDC research, marks the 19th consecutive quarter Fortinet has garnered this coveted position. Fortinet also leads in overall enterprise UTM revenue.
