DNS - Kindsight DNS Security Trial Reveals One Third of Home Networks Hacked

Kindsight, provider of online ID theft and breach of DNS Security protection services, released the results from a security trial of more than 200,000 subscribers in North America that reveals 30 percent of homes have been infected and are at serious risk of online identity theft, cybercrime and other threats.

Different types of attack can be like identity theft where attacks allow the hacker to record and retrieve personal information about the victim. Cybercrime is the criminal activity where the computer unknowingly becomes infected like launch a denial of service attack against a website or network; send spam to other users; or use the computer to commit other crimes.

A computer virus can spread to other computers by email or when the user visits a poisonous site on the Internet. Spyware is software that one may have knowingly or unknowingly installed on the computer that performs additional activities for which the user did not consent.

"Online identity theft is a growing problem that negatively impacts everyone. Our trial results verify that the steps necessary to secure a home network can be onerous and consumers are being taken advantage of. We think that consumers will be shocked by these results and the potentially dangerous hacks to their home networks," commented Mike Gassewitz, Kindsight (News - Alert) CEO, in a press release.
