DNS - Namecast Upgrades Proprietary DNS Platform with New Features

In an effort to meet the growing demands of the customers that struggle with limitations offered by traditional off-the-shelf software, Namecast announced that it has upgraded its proprietary DNS platform by adding key features to it such as advanced Content Delivery Network “CDN” load balancing, pro-active application monitoring, and geographic filtering.

Namecast is a New York City-based provider of advanced global DNS traffic management solutions. Its advanced DNS architecture solutions ensure reliable, enterprise scale traffic management and high availability network services.

The company handles disaster recovery plans and uptime requirements, in order to ensure global application service availability such as basic site-to-site failover, advanced application monitoring and CDN load balancing.

According to Namecast, its globally deployed application probes monitor web content based on pre-defined customized criteria. The company’s platform can seamlessly redirect Domain Name System “DNS” entries to enhance performance and preserve uptime, in the event of an outage.

In addition, Namecast can instantly propagate any changes occurred across the company’s network without any delays since the company utilizes advanced IP anycast routing technology. This ensures that users are directed to the company’s point of presence closest to them, thereby dramatically improving response times.

Even the company's cloud based solution requires no changes to current architecture or applications, and can be deployed within minutes.

Referring to the latest announcement, officials with Namecast said that the availability of enhanced features such as advanced CDN load balancing, pro-active application monitoring and geographic filtering on its proprietary DNS platform will differentiate the company’s solutions by offering ISPs, content providers and global enterprise businesses inherently more control, customized features, and access to monitoring tools that are not available in the current market.

According to the release, the upgraded platform houses new features for load balancing between CDN providers based on priority, time of day, or advanced geographic filters. The company’s new CDN Load Balancing services allows the user to configure failover and load balancing between CDN providers.

Users can also leverage the company’s application monitoring to balance traffic or fail over between CDN providers based on standard ICMP, TCP and HTTP monitoring probes, as well as download speed, streaming video status, and origin server load.

In addition, the company’s new geographic filtering feature ensures that customers are directed to the content closest to them. Geographic targeting can be done as well at the region, country, city or state level.

Namecast has key Points of Presence (PoPs) in New York, Los Angeles and London.
