DNS - Google Testing 'Streaming Search Results' Function

Officials with Google (News - Alert) have recently acknowledged that they are in the process of testing a new search engine feature designed to further optimize the user experience.

The innovative technology integrates Google’s predictive text tool to stream results while the user enters their query, essentially eliminating the need to initiate a search and load a new page, according to blogger Rob Ousbey. The results of the search are continually modified in real time with each stroke of the key.

While the company is currently testing the service with a small selection of users, it has yet to confirm whether it will integrate the technology into its general search function anytime soon. If Google is able to perfect the experimental web feature, users may soon find browsing the Internet to be a less arduous and more efficient process.

Although the service is mainly designed to improve the user experience, it may also help internet advertisers more effectively reach their key demographic. All contextual ads will be modified in real time as users continue to refine their search, News.com.au reports.

Before rolling out any new option, Google randomly selects a group of users to test and refine the function. Due to the fact that streaming search results would be a significant change to Google’s service, most experts believe the experimental phase will last for some time.
