DNS - Procera Networks Signs 31 New Customers

Procera Networks (News - Alert) has announced that the company has won 31 new customers in the second quarter of 2010. According to the company these new customers are the universities that have deployed its PacketLogic family of products.

Procera's PacketLogic deep packet inspection solutions help transform networks from simple bandwidth pipes to subscriber, service, and application aware networks. By leveraging the company’s core DRDL technology, Procera's solutions provide accuracy, a single point of subscriber, network, and service awareness and control, broad platform flexibility, and the visualization of the business intelligence gathered by PacketLogic solutions.

PacketLogic offers advantages such as prioritize critical applications, limit bandwidth for recreational use during peak hours, and gain granular insight into network activity for forensics. This allows better use of the network and early identification and isolation of potential threats and misbehavior, claims Procera.

“Our recently introduced PacketLogic PL8720 further strengthens our position in the university space with its 10-gig capacity and exceptional cost-performance ratio," said Jon Lindén, Procera's vice president of global marketing. "This advanced solution delivers on the unique requirements universities have while enabling instant return on investment. Our extensive experience with deployments to service providers and universities strongly positions Procera as a credible partner that offers significant value to these customers”

The new university customers of the company include Bowling Green University, IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Keene State University and Union University in the US. To maximize the utilization and the life-time of the network, these universities share a common need to accurately manage and control their network traffic. From academic research to leisure traffic, these and other university networks around the world act as service providers that support multiple applications and users.

Recently, GENBAND (News - Alert), a developer of IP solutions and services, signed an OEM agreement with Procera. The agreement stipulates that GENBAND will incorporate Procera's PacketLogic DPI technology into GENBAND's industry-leading portfolio and enable further innovation with GENBAND's current and future products. GENBAND also unveiled the P Series product family. The P Series uses Procera's PacketLogic advanced DPI technology to help operators decrease network congestion.
