DNS - Internap Forms Alliance with Lightower Fiber Networks and Extends Ability to Offer Predictable Network Performance

Internap, an Internet products and services company, announced it has formed an alliance with Lightower Fiber Networks, a fiber network and broadband service provider in the Northeast, in order to extends its ability to deliver predictable network performance.

According to officials, buildings and datacenters interconnected to Lightower's all-fiber network can now optimize network performance and availability through the use of Internap's (News - Alert) Performance IP, as well as benefit from Internap's Managed Hosting, CDN and Colocation services.

Lightower has installed a point of presence in Internap's Manhattan data center facility located at 111 8th Avenue through their business relationship with Internap Network Services Corporation. In addition, Lightower offers a state-of-the-art, all-fiber network with unparalleled reliability and density throughout New England, Metro New York, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley. Lightower connects or custom builds fiber solutions to almost anywhere in their footprint and also offers geographically diverse routes from many other carriers – enabling protection for most critical communications. 

Lightower's all-fiber network is also strategically and diversely connected to financial exchanges, carrier hotels, data centers, and other critical interconnect facilities – offering Internap’s customers the best solutions at the best locations. Lightower also offers Internap customers a complete suite of low latency connectivity solutions up to 40G, including wavelengths and Ethernet.   

Internap's SVP of IP Services, Scott Hrastar has stated that Internap is now able to extend the reach of their 111 8th Avenue data center and all the solutions in that location well beyond metropolitan New York to serve additional markets and clients across Lightower's impressive 1,750 lit building network which allows businesses to take advantage of Internap's Performance IP routing technology to deliver optimized, reliable and predictable performance across their networks at competitive price levels. 

Performance IP, based on Internap's Managed Internet Route Optimizer (MIRO) technology, routes information traffic over redundant, high-speed connections to all of the major Internet backbones in each market. MIRO gathers data and dynamically responds with intelligent route adjustments, ensuring that data is travelling along the fastest, most reliable route.
