DNS - Lady Gaga Hits 11 Million Facebook Fans... and Counting

Much like the Twitter battle between Ashton Kutcher and CNN over a year ago, Lady Gaga and President Obama are now going head-to-head. This time, the duel takes place on Facebook (News - Alert), and they have been neck and neck up until now, according to MTV.

Just four days ago, Gaga hit the 10 million mark - the most Facebook fans ever accumulated by any living person, as mentioned in a TMCnet article. As of noon Tuesday, Lady Gaga's Facebook fan count is now at about 11 million as stated on the social networking site; while Obama has yet to hit the big 1-0 at only 9.9 million. With about 13,000 fans to go, Obama has dragged behind in the race, and Gaga is holding onto the lead…for now. The only other person that still beats (no pun intended) her in Facebook fans is the late, great Michael Jackson at 15 million.

The Twitter race is still neck-and-neck. Gaga leads, but not by much at 4.8 million; compared to the President's 4.5 million. They both come in fourth and fifth place, respectively, according to twitaholic.com. The reigning queen of Twitter is former number one pop diva, Britney Spears; with Ashton and Ellen DeGeneres following (again, no pun intended) at a close second and third, respectively.

This jump might have been due to her second Rolling Stone cover, which helped by almost doubling the magazine's sales, according to bloginity.com. Since she even took the time to record a short-but-sweet video thanking her "little monsters," her fan base is almost certain to grow even more in the coming weeks.

Only several pages top Lady Gaga, President Obama and Michael Jackson. According to Time magazine, they include Texas Hold 'Em Poker, the ever-popular Mafia Wars, Facebook itself and Family Guy.
