DNS - Neustar Makes Forbes Top 25 Fastest-Growing Tech Firms

Neustar, a provider of communications products and directory services was listed by Forbes magazine as the 17th-fastest growing tech company in America for 2009.

Illumina, which sells products and services for genetic analysis and research, snagged the top spot, followed by Google, Salesforce.com (News - Alert)and iRobot.

'Thirteen companies are making their debut this year, including Apple Computer,' the Forbes writeup noted: 'The fastest sales grower is  Illumina, a biotech tools company that returns to the list after a one-year absence.'

Last year's list 'weathered Wall Street's storm somewhat better than the overall market,' Forbes noted, adding that 'the class of 2008 Fast Tech stocks fell 30 percent over the past twelve months, while the Nasdaq 100 Technology Sector Index and the S&P 500 suffered identical losses of 39 percent.'

To make the list, companies must have latest 12-month revenues of $25 million or more, annualized sales gains of at least 10 percent over the past five years and a profit over the past 12 months.

'In addition, we require a Thomson (News - Alert)IBES long-term consensus profit-growth forecast of at least 10 percent, annualized,' Forbes noted, adding that 'we also exclude companies with significant legal problems or with possible accounting or corporate governance issues, based on scoring data from Audit Integrity of Los Angeles.'

TMC's (News - Alert)Rajani Baburajan recently reported that Neustar announced that MakeMyTrip.com, an online travel portal based in New Delhi, India, picked Neustar's geographic traffic routing service to provide geographically relevant content to customers in different regions of the world.

Geographic traffic routing service from Neustar operates on Neustar's UltraDNS Directory Services Platform. This database-driven service allows Web site operators to provide different Domain Name System or 'DNS' responses to different users based on their geographic locations.

As Baburajan wrote, 'an advantage of this service is that it guides customers to Web servers that will provide the best results or deliver targeted content. As a result, Web sites improve in efficiency, load distribution and the overall customer experience.'
