DNS - Google Intros Real-Time Search for Content Share Sites

Google is working to make user search easier every day. In December, the company introduced real-time search. Since then, content from MySpace, Facebook and Buzz has been added, as well as an expansion to 40 languages and top links to features that help users to find the most relevant content shares on sites such as Twitter.

Now, according to the Google (News - Alert) blog, a new feature will enable users to search and explore the public archive of tweets. Constant updates help to create consistent online conversations about breaking news, people and places.

As tweets and other short-form updates create a history of commentary meant to provide valuable insight into different situations, Google wants to provide users with a way to search across such information and make it useful.

Google users can now zoom to any point in time to replay what people were sharing in public forums on Twitter. On the search results page, simply click "Show options" and then select "Updates." The first page will provide the familiar latest and greatest short-form updates from a comprehensive set of sources.

There is now also a new chart at the top of the page, which allows you to select the year, month or day. Users can also click any point to view the tweets from that specific time period. The chart will return the relative volume of activity on Twitter about the particular topic.

People throughout the world are tweeting about disc golf and tennis, biking, riding a party bus, craving chips and salsa and so much more. All topics tend to be the kind of local, time-specific information that in the past has been nearly impossible to find online.

The ability to replay tweets enables users to explore any topic people have discussed on Twitter. The replay feature is rolling out now and is expected to be available throughout the world in English within the next couple of days. In the initial release, tweets can be searched back to February 11, 2010. Soon, users will be able to search back to March 21, 2006.

In other Google news, the company recently got a boost through its purchase of Plink. This new technology enables Google to conduct searches based on photos of artwork taken on mobile phones.
