DNS - Firetide Offers New Point-to-Point Outdoor Ethernet Bridges

Firetide (News - Alert) Inc., a leading provider of wireless infrastructure mesh networks, announced the introduction of outdoor wireless Ethernet bridges that redefine price-performance characteristics in the point-to-point space, thus expanding its wireless infrastructure offerings. The new Firetide Wireless Bridge 100, or “FWB-100,” will be software configurable for 2.4, 5 and 4.9 GHz and will achieve up to 35 Mbps of throughput in 1- 2 mile links.

With the product competitively priced, this will build new market opportunities with the trademark performance, security and reliability of Firetide.

IT Manager of Valley Ag Software, Sean Woods believes that this product will complement Firetide’s mesh offering especially when there is a need to connect to remote facilities. He adds that within a price range of $1,000 - $1500, it will be difficult to find another point-to-point bridge with Firetide’s throughput.

With the bridge optimized to provide high-capacity and low-latency connectivity for demanding data, voice and video application, the product line is aimed at core Firetide markets like municipalities, public safety, industrial installations and campus environments. The product also opens up new opportunities for Firetide, especially in the wireless Internet service provider and telecom operator space.

Bo Larsson, CEO, Firetide said they were introducing a high-performance wireless point-to-point bridge they can use to link their mesh networks or deploy in stand-alone configurations due to the customers telling that they would like to be able to buy complete end-to-end wireless infrastructure solutions from Firetide. He adds that this will be followed by a MIMO-based point-to-point solution in Q2 this year.

Firetide’s expertise in large-scale wireless mesh networks for video, data and voice applications in harsh environments ensures that its bridges are optimized to provide the highest performance, security and reliability in the industry. FWB-100 link can be deployed as a standalone solution, and managed via a browser-based management interface. Customers can also integrate the FWB-100 links into a larger Firetide mesh network for a scalable end-to-end solution managed by HotView Pro network management software.  An easy “out-of-the-box” installation experience is assured as the unit is shipped preconfigured, with all accessories included. Alignment tools to make installation and management easier are also provided by Firetide.
