DNS - Google Apps Marketplace Gets OpenID Support from Ping Identity



Providing more security to the users of Google (News - Alert) Apps Marketplace, Ping Identity has announced support for OpenID Internet Single Sign-On for Google Apps. Now, software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) providers participating in Google Apps Marketplace can have access to users who authenticate via their Google Apps domain.

Internet SSO, as the name implies, is single sign-on that works across the Internet. Single Sign-On (SSO) helps companies maintain a secure working environment and ensure users remain productive. It allows users with Web browsers to securely and easily access multiple Web applications while only logging in once, even though the applications are most likely managed by different organizations.

Google Apps Marketplace has more than 2 million customers where they discover, purchase and deploy integrated business applications. The cloud applications used in all these functions provide a simpler user experience, increase business efficiency, and reduce administrative overhead as it is integrated with user account and application data stored in Google Apps.

As technology requirements and standards evolve, Ping Identity remains committed to providing the underlying identity security technology that ties it all together.”

SaaS vendors who have deployed PingFederate will now have the ability to act as a Google OpenID relying party with Ping Identity’s Google IdP Connector. Also, the SaaS customers will now the ability to deploy an entirely cloud-based solution with the combination of Google Apps acting as a hosted authentication/OpenID Provider and SaaS vendors running PingFederate with the Google IdP Connector.

Recently, the copmany announced the latest on-demand Internet SSO service, PingConnect, for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications. PingConnect allows single sign-on between enterprises and SaaS applications. The software is initially available for Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Google Apps. It to increase user adoption, reduce administration efforts and improve security, the company said. It is now available at Ping Identity as well as on the Force.com AppExchange.
