VMIX Picks Neustar for Global DNS Solution

VMIX has recently selected Neustar Ultra Managed Services to support their global expansion.

VMIX, a company know for providing carrier-class online video and media management solutions has chosen this latest service to accommodate its expansion which recently grew from one data center to four, with 15 percent of its traffic today coming from outside the United States.

VMIX offers the most scalable, white-label online video solution in the world and manages over 25 million video files and now with Neustar UltraDNS’s Directional DNS, company will be able to easily share the traffic load between its data centers and keep their videos flowing through an extremely busy holiday season.

The cloud-based products from VMIX make it easy to have user’s video anywhere, and the company is adding over one million new videos per month. The conversion to UltraDNS took less than one month to complete and resulted in faster resolution times for VMIX customers and zero downtime, the company officials said.

“We knew we needed to upgrade from our legacy DNS, and initially looked at hardware solutions,” said Phil Chen, director of Systems Engineering at VMIX.

Neustar's UltraDNS Service is a comprehensive suite of managed DNS offerings – provides a range of infrastructure solutions to organizations that rely on the Internet for their critical business processes, applications and services. Rick Rumbarger, senior director of product management at Neustar's Internet Infrastructure Services said that, “DNS and the advanced services it powers are fundamental for online communication and commerce, and our customers are the premier online brands in the world. The rapid growth and success of VMIX is a case study of how outsourcing your DNS to the industry leader makes sense as your company grows.”

In a related news release, The Open Mobile (News - Alert) Video Coalition (OMVC) announced it has selected Neustar to provide the Mobile DTV Trust Authority with the infrastructure necessary to deliver live, digital broadcast TV content to various mobile video-enabled devices such as mobile phones and portable media players.

Neustar's technology enables connectivity across different networks, technologies and applications, and it possesses experience developing digital media ecosystems. Neustar has developed and maintains the UltraViolet digital rights locker for the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE) consortium. For the OMVC, Neustar will provide the experience and technology necessary to allow mobile devices and DTV service providers to connect seamlessly and securely–with new secure deployments that will begin later this year.
