Read All About It: Neustar's Intelligent Cloud Good for the Mobile Industry

Within the past couple weeks, Neustar, a provider of innovative solutions and directory services for communication across networks, launched a new service called intelligent clouds, a service that provides virtual meeting place or hosted exchange for telephone service providers such AT&T, Verizon (News - Alert) and TMobile to connect.

For instance, National Geographic wanted to promote its film, “The last lion,” in which people could view trailers on their mobile phones. As a fundraising campaign, National Geographic wanted to work with someone to develop an application in which subscribers could view the video, and then make a mobile donation. Neustar partnered with Hook Mobile to demonstrate the advance capabilities of its Intelligent Cloud service and how it can be leveraged by charities and nonprofits to provide mobile subscribers with an enriched and compelling giving experience.

Making big news at the Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) with its Intelligent Cloud service, Neustar and Aepona, a provider of software solutions for Mobile Cloud Computing, released the results of a new industry white paper, authored by Yankee Group (News - Alert), "The Mobile Cloud: Unlocking New Profits.” The research investigates the growing demand from consumers for high-speed mobile services and its impact on mobile network operators (MNOs), brands, advertisers, content owners, and enterprises. As Brian Partridge, vice president of Anywhere Network Research at Yankee Group, commented in a press release, "Yankee Group is bullish on the prospects for the entire mobile ecosystem - if stakeholders have the ability to work together more efficiently. The industry needs capable stakeholders to step up and reduce the friction that currently stymies the creation of an efficient and profitable mobile platform. Solutions that can successfully address these key challenges can help the entire mobile ecosystem create more profits."

Based on an examination of the mobile marketplace and ecosystem, the Yankee Group believes that a well-executed mobile cloud service eliminates the commercial and technical fragmentation that has proven to be a barrier in the past. The firm believes that by combining mobile cloud services with a motivated ecosystem, there are significant opportunities to enrich the entire marketplace.

Jean Foster, vice president of Marketing for Carrier Services at Neustar, commented in an interview with TMC (News - Alert) that the white paper had gone over very well. Neustar shared it with operators and customers, presenting a thorough study of the market and what’s been challenged in the market. It reinforces the mobile cloud, or the intelligent cloud, that we are well traditioned to provide, Neustar is a global service provider and this is a global industry.
