DNS: Cotendo Extends Contract with Bayer for Website Acceleration Services

Cotendo, a provider of Content Delivery Network (CDN) and Value-Added Site Acceleration services, announced that Bayer, the healthcare and high-tech material science giant, signed a two-year extension contract for continued use of Cotendo's Site Acceleration suite.

In March 2010, Bayer selected Cotendo as the primary CDN and site acceleration provider. Bayer uses Cotendo's suite, including its Dynamic Site Acceleration Service, to improve content delivery and simplify management of corporate Web properties like 10,000 HTML pages and more than 40 microsites.

“The CDN solution with caching and dynamic acceleration supports not only high performance -- even for SSL encrypted content -- but also useful advanced capabilities,” said Joachim Behr, Internet Management Lead at Bayer AG Communications, in a statement.

Cotendo's technology includes control functions such as flushing. Flushing can be carried out in real time. With this, Bayer can keep all objects in the cache whenever needed and to update them within seconds.

Company officials said Bayer updates Web content on thousands of Web pages across various sites several times per week and sometimes even multiple times per day. The process of deleting cached content previously consumed significant time and resources.

The acceleration suite from Cotendo gives Bayer immediate Web content updates and instantaneous purging of content from Bayer sites. The real-time management capabilities are simple to use for complex Web site management requirements.

“We are honored that Bayer has given Cotendo a strong vote of confidence and trust with this extended contract,” said Ronni Zehavi, CEO of Cotendo. “We will live up to this confidence by striving to provide the most innovative, feature rich, and easy-to-use content delivery and acceleration services in the market.”

In September 2010, Cotendo announced the introduction of Cotendo Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Analytics Service. This is the latest addition to its CDN and Site Acceleration Services suite.
