.ME Registry and Go Daddy Hope to Cultivate Next Generation DNS Industry Talent with College Scholarship

The .ME Registry, operator of the new .ME domain name system (DNS) extension, and Go Daddy, the world's largest Web hosting provider and top DNS registrar, are refocusing from the virtual world to the real world, answering the prayers of students interested in a college education. With the launch of the Go Daddy .ME Scholarship Program, 10 students will receive $10,000 each to pursue their college dreams.

DNS registry growth is to thank for the available funds. In a statement, Predrag Lesic, executive director of the .ME Registry, said, “We were so proud to provide financial support to Go Daddy for this extraordinary venture. The success of Dot-ME is the result of hard work and effort by many bright and talented people. Think about what a next era of Internet entrepreneurs will be able to discover, invent, create if they have the opportunity to develop their skills, talents and minds in college.”

But, whether these 10 students move on to become the next line of talented DNS industry minds is yet to be seen. Simply, Bob Parsons (News - Alert), CEO and founder of Go Daddy, stated, "I believe everyone should have the chance to get a higher education. By providing Go Daddy dot-ME scholarships, we can make a difference for some who might not have been able to afford to go to college."

DNS Registry operators and providers aren’t the only supporters of education in the tech world. Recently, McGraw-Hill Companies, a global financial information and education company, and Wipro, a technology solutions provider, decided to develop "mConnect," an affordable mobile learning platform aimed at reducing skills gap in emerging markets. "High-quality education is fundamental to the growth of a nation. We at Wipro (News - Alert) are fully committed to launching the next generation of educational ideas and tools—leveraging the potential of our connected world—mobile devices, laptops, pads and other devices," said Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro Ltd. (News - Alert), in a statement.

The application deadline for the Go Daddy .ME Scholarship is March 31., to be announced at the end of April. For more information about the Go Daddy .ME Scholarship program, please visit www.GoDaddy.com/MEscholarship.
