Fidelis XPS, Enhanced with Intelligent Network Forensics

To improve secure communication in a truly ubiquitous computing environment, Fidelis Security Systems, a company in network visibility, analysis and control solutions, has introduced the latest version of their award-winning network security appliance, Fidelis XPS.

According to a press release, the company has added some new feature in this network security appliance and these features enhance a customer’s deployment of an intelligent network forensics solution, allowing them to see, study and stop advanced threats.  The company previously unveiled the Fidelis XPS Intelligent Network Forensics solution at the SANS Forensics and Incident Response Summit in July, 2010.

Peter George, CEO of Fidelis Security Systems said that traditionally, network forensics has been about capturing and recording all the packets traversing the network and adding some analysis capabilities to enable investigation of security incidents after they occur and by utilizing Fidelis XPS with selective capture, an enterprise can find incidents of interest more quickly, and in the process reduce costs, automate incident response, and create proactive situational awareness.

Fidelis XPS network visibility, analysis, and control features enable an organization to see, study, and stop advanced threats in real-time with a single policy-driven network security appliance.

In the latest version of Fidelis XPS, the process of studying advanced threats, known as “Intelligent Network Forensics”, includes two important new features: Packet Capture (PCAP) and SelectiveRecording.

Fidelis XPS sensors, with this enhancement of selective recording enable companies to take a policy based decision to selectively record or not record full session data, depending on the rule that was violated.

In addition with PacketCapture capability, Fidelis XPS sensors can now selectively capture all packets transferred by the endpoints involved in an alert during a period of time before and after the alert and store those in a packet capture (PCAP) file for subsequent analysis.
