Microsoft Releases WebMatrix for Website Development



Helping website developers of all skill levels easily create customize and publish websites to the Internet; Microsoft has announced WebMatrix, a free Web development tool.

WebMatrix is a brand new web development tool from Microsoft (News - Alert) that includes everything you need for website development. WebMatrix includes a gallery of offerings from hosting providers that range in scalability and price based on users’ needs

Using code provided through a variety of available templates or using existing free open source Web applications, WebMatrix is available today in nine languages and includes a set of tools to create new websites. The ecosystem of nearly 40 open source application partners supporting WebMatrix is essential for development success on the Web, the company has stated.

“Our Web platform offers a complete ecosystem of products, partners and technologies all aimed at helping developers succeed on the Web,” said S. Somasegar (News - Alert), senior vice president of the Developer Division at Microsoft. “Every day, more people are looking to build, publish and manage a website, and now, with WebMatrix, we provide developers of all skill levels with a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use solution to get their sites online.”

WebMatrix provides a quick way to learn how to build websites for students and new developers. Using open source applications, it provides an efficient way to build websites. With support for multiple programming syntaxes, such as ASP.NET (News - Alert) “Razor” or PHP, and Web helpers, WebMatrix increases development productivity. WebMatrix provides the tools needed to run a website, including the Web server, database and Web frameworks, the company has announced in a press release.

Recently, the company announced that in the second quarter of 2011, it’s Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution designed for midsize project-driven organizations, in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean and Puerto Rico. The software will initially be released only in English and later in Spanish. The new solution is particularly well-suited for construction, professional services, government contracting, architecture and engineering fields.
