DNS - Neustar Unveils UltraDNS Management Portal for Mobile Phones

Neustar, a provider of surveillance, clearinghouse, and directory services to the global communications and Internet industry, announced that its UltraDNS network management portal has gone mobile.

With its new mobile capability, customers can now access their Managed DNS data on the UltraDNS platform via UltraMobile.

UltraMobile, according to company officials, is the industry's first mobile application for DNS management. The software is currently available for devices running the Android operating system and will be available soon to Apple's (News - Alert) iOS.

With UltraMobile users get instant alert information and critical functions that they could previously only access from within the UltraDNS Managed Services Portal. It provides increased flexibility, immediate access and control of their configurations on their global DNS infrastructure.

“We are excited to be the first managed DNS service provider to launch this type of mobile application,” said Alex Berry, senior vice president of Internet Infrastructure Services for Neustar, in a statement. “It's great that we can provide the most prominent Internet brands with a unique solution to help them manage their services anytime, anywhere.”

DNS administrators are faced with the challenge of balancing the increasing demands from their customers while struggling to stay ahead of continuous technology shifts with limited resources, yet leaving no place for downtime.

Neustar now provides administrators with a tool that enables them to check the status of services and make changes remotely, virtually anytime and from anywhere, and make their jobs easier.

The service eliminates the frustration that a DNS administrator faces while having to change a DNS record in the middle of the night or working in the data center but without having a traditional Web access.

“I need my administrators to be able to respond to issues immediately regardless of where they are or what they are doing and UltraMobile enables them to do just that,” said Larry Labas, director of IT operations at SonicWALL (News - Alert), in a statement. “We're thrilled to be able to start using UltraMobile as part of our critical DNS support system.”

Recently, Neustar announced the availability of Neustar PortXpress, its one-day porting turnkey service for small-to-medium-sized operators, TMCnet reported.

This solution, according to company officials, utilizes a secure cloud-based architecture that enables operators to reduce the interval for port requests to just one business day, enabling them to meet the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC's (News - Alert)) new one-day number porting requirements by the January 31, 2011, deadline without system modification or new capital investments.
