DNS - Neustar's Newest DNS Offering Helps IT Departments Cope with Network Complexities

DNS solutions provider Neustar announced this week a new offering that makes it possible for customers to outsource their infrastructures while still maintaining control of day-to-day changes.

According to officials with the company, the latest offering, “Ultra DDI,” seamlessly integrates internal DNS, DHCP and IPAM operations and includes Infoblox (News - Alert) appliances, issue resolution, software updates, equipment replacement and hardware lifecycle replenishment.

Alex Berry, senior vice president of Neustar's Internet Infrastructure Services group said, "DNS and DHCP are the linchpins for unifying networks and enhancing communications - and it is becoming increasingly time- and labor-intensive for our customers to juggle multi-vendor management and network troubleshooting on their own.”

Berry also noted that as more customers realize the importance in trusting a provider like Neustar for their business, the company has been able to, “build a sterling reputation in delivering and managing the core services underlying IP network infrastructures."

To help companies rest assured their operations are always well monitored and maintained, Neustar also conducts around-the-clock monitoring for back-end DNS and DHCP operations – checking for around 50 different health and usage parameters and retains a database of critical data points for DNS and DHCP so they can spot trends and plan for the future.

"IT managers are now recognizing how critical IPAM and DNS are to their service delivery," said Glenn O'Donnell, senior analyst at Forrester (News - Alert) in his report Inquiry Spotlight: Network Monitoring and Management, Q1 2009. "Expanded attention beyond the network often highlights IP and DNS failures as the root cause of service failures, and [IT managers] are learning that discipline in IPAM and DNS is mandatory."

Earlier this month, the company made headlines when PathFinder, a GSMA (News - Alert)-managed service operated by Neustar was selected by Telecommunications Software & Systems Group “TSSG,” one of Ireland's telecommunications software research centers, to manage complex IP transit routing scenarios that will transpire in an "all-IP" / IP Multimedia Systems (IMS) network environment.
